Look Ma! I Got Me Uh Ess-E-Oh Blawg!
February 9th, 2008Hot-diggity-dog!
There’s approximately two billion so-called “SEO blogs” already being published.
So why am I even bothering?
After all, I’m lazy. I was in the military for eight years (well, four years active duty and four years in the reserves…but still) and I did manual labor for a stint after I got out. I feel that I now deserve the right to be a little lazy. Basically, if it doesn’t make me money it doesn’t get done these days. So solly Charlie.
But I picked up this (what I feel is a…) really cool domain name about a year ago.
And I can’t think of ANYTHING else to do with it.
No, really. That’s a major reason why I am starting this blog.
Another reason? Too much BS in this business.
There are too many blogs out there authored by guys that “fake it until they make it.” Meaning that they brag about the millions they are making from affiliate marketing, search engine optimization, or even black hat SEO before that money even transpires.
And they pimp their blogs out in an effort to actually make that money.
How…stupid.
I’ve been supporting myself solely from income generated “online” for over a year now.
And I still feel very much like a “n00b” sometimes.
But if there is one thing that I’ve learned in this business, it’s that there really are no “secrets,” per se. There are tactics, tricks, tips, and talents that can help someone become more successful at what they do. But in the end, it’s sheer tenacity (and a fair amount of luck) that helps people become successful.
I’m sure you’ve all heard of the K.I.S.S. method: Keep It Simple Stupid.
For the most part, that’s the way that I do business. I do it this way not out of strategy, but out of necessity. You see, while I can often make people believe that I am a decent writer (I can even fool myself sometimes!) I know almost nothing about programming, coding, or much of anything else. So I have always had to “wing it” to a certain extent.
I know that there are a lot of people out there in the same position that I was once in: a gas tank full of desire but no technical expertise air in the tires. My tires, they were flaaaaaaaaaaaaaat. So I filled them up with a lot of reading, a little ingenuity, and a LOT of coffee.
So far, so good.
We have a phrase down here in the South. It’s called “Redneck Ingenuity.” Ever seen someone strap a pallet full of lumber to a small car? That’s Redneck Ingenuity. Laugh if you want, but I have built my “online business” upon the principle. Successfully.
And SouthernSEO is all about teaching you how to do the same.
So strap in because it may be a bumpy ride, but we will get that lumber back to the house!
